YES!!! First of all, nobody needs to "qualify" to specialize as a destination writer. You just need a strong desire to learn a new craft as you go. You should also be excited enough about a particular destination that you can see yourself sticking with this journey for the long haul. Bonus points if you already live somewhere you love. Lastly, you should be able to tell a great story and be willing to try new things!

NO! That's the beauty of it all. Half the fun of documenting the journey is NOT knowing enough. Readers love knowing they're following a real person, not a tourist board trying to sell vacations. People are looking for other REAL people to pave the way and make it attainable. You don't have to be an expert; you just need real-world experience, even if you've done all the wrong things.

You do not need a preexisting website but you will need a homebase on the internet once we get started. But fear not...this is what we cover in our very first session. We discuss different platform options for setting up shop because platforms do matter depending on your goals. AND...the most exciting part is we give your new lifestyle a fabulous new name on day one! I've got all kinds of tricks up my sleeve to make sure you start with the right name and the right brand identity. It'll be something you can love forever and ever, amen.

That's something you'll have to decide for yourself. This lifestyle is NOT for "He who collects the most passport stamps." But it could be for YOU if you've fallen madly in love with your favorite vacation spot but can't figure out how to make it financially sustainable. What I can tell you for sure is the list of perks and opportunities that present themselves to a destination specialist is ENTIRELY different than a general travel writer has. Putting yourself in a tight corner is the only way to become REALLY interesting. The alternative....is what everyone else is doing.
